COTINUS Old Fashioned. \nMore commonly known as The Smoke Bush. \nA relatively new variety of Cotinus coggygria found as a sport on the nursery of H. Kolster in Holland. \nOld Fashioned is a deciduous, bushy shrub or small tree with brightly coloured shoots and foliage. \nUpright in habit, the leaves open bluish green with a pinkish-purple tint and mature blue-green, they then change to fluorescent shades of red and orange before falling in autumn. \nCotinus Old Fashioned carries soft plumes of pale pink-purplish flowers in summer and it is these smoke-like plumes that give the plant its common name. \nAn excellent choice for the border or a low maintenance garden and can also be grown successfully as a pot or container plant for the patio or courtyard. \nNot a very fussy plant The Smoke Bush will grow any reasonable well-drained garden soil in full sun or dappled or partial shade. \nFully hardy in the U.K. Cotinus will reach a height of approx. 6ft. after 5-6 years with a spread of 7ft but it can be pruned to restrict its growth. \nAll pictures used are of mature plants in full bloom, they are for illustration purposes only and may not necessarily reflect plants at all times of the year. \nOur Cotinus plants are supplied ex. 9cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions \nFor tips on How to Grow this wonderful variety this short by Normad Dimitri. \nPACK 1 PLANT \nIMMEDIATE \n \nOur full range of Shrubs can be viewed via this . \nPlease remember plant maintenance within our nursery is absolutely essential and means we need to prune back some items at certain times of the year to help maintain shape and encourage new growth. \nWe ask all our buyers to remember Cotinus plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website.
