Description

Power efficient UV sensing system Low power operation: Requires a simple +2.5 V to +5.5 V power supply. When UV is detected, the sensor output voltage increases, enabling straightforward readout. Signal amplification: The photodiode generates extremely small signals in the nanoamp range. An opamp stage amplifies this signal to a larger, more manageable voltage for accurate measurement. Wide detection range: Detects UV light in the 240 to 370 nm range, covering UVB and most UVA spectra. UV sensor output and index calculation: Uses a true UV sensor rather than a calibrated light sensor. To estimate UV index, divide the output voltage by 0.1 V. Note that the included UV LED is 400 nm; do not use it if this wavelength is outside the sensor's detectable range.
