Description
Dismag natural Epsom salts. Epsom Salts can be used as baths, dissolving in a quantity of warm water. In these baths, magnesium absorption is topical, through the skin, with hair follicles playing a determining role. Magnesium ions are capable of crossing the stratum corneum of the skin through these follicles, in a way that depends on its concentration in the water, and the length of time the bath lasts.
According to the OCU, the reasons for using these salts are due to their effects as an exfoliant and, above all, as a relaxing bath.
The effect as an exfoliating body cleanser is explained by the abrasive exfoliation and cleaning effect of its texture. However, it should be noted that it is not recommended if the skin is swollen, with infections and open wounds or burns.
In the form of a bath, dissolved in warm water, the use of Epsom salts is related to the reduction of stress and muscle discomfort. Current scientific evidence, beyond its traditional use, speaks of this benefit in the context of the bathroom itself, where the fact of taking a moment of relaxation and well-being in the bathroom itself already helps to relax.
Relief of muscle tension and promoting relaxation. This may be interesting from the point of view of musculoskeletal discomfort.
In the case of skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis, there is currently not enough scientific evidence to establish a causal benefit. However, there are beginning to be some studies where symptomatic improvements seem to be observed in patients who use them (for example, against itching and peeling).
Likewise, the report carried out by the faculty of biosciences at the University of Birmingham concludes that “bathing in Epsom salts is an easy and safe way to increase sulfate and magnesium levels in the body,” and can contribute to the normal intake of magnesium.
Dismag recommends using between 1 kg and 2 kg of salt per bath, at a temperature of 30ºC (warm) and lasting 20 minutes. Taking into account the average volume of water needed to fill a bathtub, I would assume that it would be a 0.5-1% Epsom salt bath, optimal for incorporating magnesium into the body.
Refrain from using these baths if there are any open wounds or burns. People who tend to have low blood pressure values (hypotensive) should be careful or consult before using these baths. Keep out of the reach of little kids.
